Principal's Piece
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to those families who have been in touch about meeting with class teachers; it is always good to see parents and staff working together to support student learning.
Last week an email was sent out about renewing our School Advisory Council. Please return nominations by Wednesday November 23. Thank you to those who have already sent through nominations. Your willingness to support our school community is appreciated.
Staff have been busy working with classes on items for our upcoming Christmas Concert. These items are coming together well.
Many classes have also participated in excursions and incursions to support classroom learning. Thank you to everyone who is helping out with these activities.
This week I am in Perth for a series of Principal's meetings, where we have spent time looking at the various roles of a Principal. Above and beyond educating your children, these include budgeting, finance, human resourcing and school governance, to name a few of the topics covered. We have also listened to the Director of Catholic Education, Dr Debra Sayce, reflecting on the importance of the work of a Principal and an educator.
As we look forward to 2023 can I please ask those families with a child on a medical plan (eg asthma or anaphylaxis) to book an appointment with the relative health professional to update your child’s Action Plan. It is important they are reviewed and updated each year so that we can provide the best possible response in the event of a medical emergency.
Last week the P & F met to continue working on the plans for the 2023 St Patrick's Quiz Night. This will be a terrific event for our school community.
The next in our series of teasers for the Quiz Night is about the Commonwealth of Australia is:
"The King's representative is known as the Governor General - who is the current Governor General of Australia?"
The answer to last weeks' questions:
"What year did Australia first win the America's Cup?" is "1983".
"What was the team's theme song?" "Down Under."
"Who sang it?" "Men at Work."
I'll leave you with the poem to the right, whose author is unknown, which contains some powerful thoughts.
Go well this week.
Miss Therese
Principal

No more soft plastics for recycling please...
Unfortunately, we cannot take anymore soft plastics for our recycling bin as the only company in Australia that processes it - REDcycle - has ceased accepting it for the time being. They are hoping to be up and running again in 2023.
In the meantime you could:
- Store your soft plastics until REDcycle resumes collection again or another company takes on the role.
- Choose to buy fewer products in plastic bags.
See ABC News for more details:
